From an “…auctioneer of fine art, to a gun peddler,” are words you would hear Sig Shore exclaim from time to time.
Shore Galleries traces its roots and mission back to 1956, when Sig Shore’s vision took the growing business in its new direction.
Called upon to handle the disposition of an estate, of which contained several antique firearms, Sig Shore was surprised by the number of people that turned out and the interest that was generated by the guns.
Inspiration grew an unlikely business in a unique niche, unknown to even the owner at the time.
That pretty much sums up the unlikely turn of events that would transform Shore Galleries from an auction house (specializing in fine art and antiques) to the law enforcement and civilian supply store that it is now.
Sig Shore’s business is now run by his nephew, Steve.
After years as a sporting goods dealer, importer of reproduction antique firearms, and importer of military surplus firearms and ammunition, Shore Galleries has found its niche as a distributor, handling such brand lines as Bianchi, Safariland, Streamlight, Springfield, Ruger, Beretta, Glock, Kahr Arms, Fiocchi, Sig Sauer and Walther, just to name just a few. The list continues to grow.
Shore Galleries retains its optimism as it enters its 60th year as it meets the needs of the Illinois and surrounding Midwestern law enforcement community with a successful retail business, poised to meet the needs of modern 21st century police departments, officers, and shooting enthusiasts alike.
